It reminds me of how meditation teachers tell you to sit quietly until the mind begins to wander. The wandering isn't the failure. It's the doorway.
Emotions work similarly. When anger rises, the tears come, or something tightens in the body, you don't rush to stop it. You become curious.
- What thought was present just before that emotion appeared?
- What story did the mind just tell?
The emotion is often pointing you toward something that has been asking for your attention all along.
